Quitting Smoking
I love it but I can

Everybody needs reassurance, affirmation and encouragement when they’re trying to quit…especially after 20 years of the habit.  It goes without saying that the majority of us try to cope by replacing cigarettes with food.  It’s comforting.  It’s the same oral fixation and the same feeling of gratification (ok, well not quite).  It stands to reason then that if we can be supportive of those around us by keeping a well stocked fridge and pantry with healthy alternatives, it’ll be that much easier for them.  Try to make your meals an event.  Cook their favorites.  Put some candles on the table.  Create some ambience that’ll make them feel special, loved and appreciated.  Any expert will tell you to change your routine when you’re quitting…and at least in my house, candles and a fancy dinner are a definite change to the routine!
